8. Play, imagine and explore at the Children’s Museum at Denver Marsico Campus

 

Visit this amazing museum for little ones! From the early learner’s oasis to the hands-on play with bubbles, water, art and more, this is a great place for babies and toddlers alike. Check out the Bloom exhibit specifically for this age group. If the weather is nice, don’t miss Joy Park!

 

9. Get up close with 1,600 butterflies at the Butterfly Pavilion

The Butterfly Pavilion, 15 minutes from downtown, allows you to interact up close with butterflies, moths and other invertebrates. Tickets are $9.95 and free for kids under 2.

10. Jump, slide and climb at Kickin It

Infant and toddlers are encouraged to play independently and creatively at Kickin It. This indoor play ground includes a playlet, ball area, climbing wall and rotating play areas. Monthly memberships and day passes are available.

11. Play at Discovery Park

We love this park in Wheat Ridge which includes an awesome toddler playground, splash pad, nature play area with a creek and sand.

12. Burn energy at Lava Island

An epic playground in Aurora for all ages includes slides, trampolines, soft play and a cafe. Kids and adults pay a $10 entrance fee, 11 months and under are free.

13. Walk the Family Nature Play Trail at the Denver Zoo

Observe and delight in nature on the nature play trail on Thursday and Friday mornings. Zoo educators are available to encourage exploration and help kids dig in the dirt, clumb under bushes and more fun!

14. Pretend together at the Play Street Museum

Your kids will have fun imagining and pretending in the town square or exploring the interactive exhibits at this Highlands Ranch location. Four sessions of play are offered each weekday.

15. Meet new animals at Lil’ Buckaroo’s Farm

Meet a new animal from the heard during Toddler Time every Thursday and Friday.

16. Take a class at Gymboree Play and Music

Classes are offered from birth to age 5 with play-based curriculum that can feature songs, sensory play, physical play and more.

17. Shop and play together at Cherry Creek

Take a break from errands and play at Cherry Creek Shopping Center, lower level outside of Macy’s. The play area closes from 2-2:30 p.m. for cleaning.

18. Get a first taste of science at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Explore the building and hunt for colors, look for baby animals, or count birds and dinosaur bones. The Museum includes ideas specific for babies and toddlers on their preschool page.

19. Grab a cone at a Little Man Ice Cream Co. location

Grab a toddler sized cone at the 28-foot milk can in Lower Highlands. Or, visit one of the other locations all with super fun buildings that make that ice cream taste even sweeter.

20. Visit the Children’s Sculpture Garden at the Pearl Street Mall

Climb on a snail or perhaps a rabbit. If you’re in the area, this is a great little stop for little ones!

21. Explore at the Morrison Nature Center

This is the perfect place for hands-on learning about plants and animals. You’ll find a kid friendly library, animal costumes, handmade wooden puzzles, blocks and even supplies to put on a puppet show! Pick up a self-guided tour map and step outside to explore 240 acres of open space that include gentle trails and a wetland observation area.

22. Take a Parent-Tot Class at Little Gym

Find your local Little Gym and sign up for a class! Kids can explore, leap, roam and learn skills in an age appropriate class setting.

23. Climb and Run at SweetPlay

SweetPlay in Greenwood Village and Broomfield offers a bright, fun place to climb and get all the wiggles out. There is a large play structure, ball pit, arcade, younger soft play area, laser maze and climbing wall.

24. Find Community at Playdate

Whether you’re joining for an event or just looking for a place to play with others, Playdate in Westminster is one of Denver’s newest play cafes! Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends but walk-ins welcome if space allows.

25. Imagine at Kids Galaxy

This indoor playground in Longmont offers imagination centers, inflatables and even a drop-off service if you need to run errands solo.

26. Go on a Stroller Safari

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers Stroller Safaris throughout the year with themes. Each safari includes a guided mini zoo hike, one animal meet and greet, and a fine or gross motor activity. Registration is required.

27. Ride the Train and See Farm Animals at Belleview Park

The Englewood Farm and Train has been operating for over 50 years, and is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Get up and close and personal with farm animals and board the train for $3 a ticket.

28. Find a new book at one of Denver’s bookstores dedicated to kids

Children’s-only bookstores can be hard to come by, but Denver is lucky to have three storefronts dedicated entirely to young readers. These spaces are more than places to buy books; they’re a delight to visit with offerings such as story times and other events, rotating and thoughtfully curated collections, and toy and gift shopping.

29. Attend Second Saturdays at CSU Spur

Explore hands-on activities, a mock vet clinic, cooking labs, rooftop greenhouses and more from community partners at the CSU Spur.

30. Don’t miss the Day Out with Thomas event at Colorado Railroad Museum

Ride on a life-size Thomas the Train at this annual event at the Colorado Railroad Museum. The Museum offers a magical Polar Express Ride during the holiday season.
