Day Trip to Evergreen, Colorado

Start your day In Evergreen at the Muddy Buck Cafe, a unique and fun coffee shop downtown. They have amazing avocado toast and my daughter loves the giant cinnamon rolls and bacon. You can sit and sip some coffee in one of the outdoor spaces surrounding the café or inside where there are many comfy couches and chairs.

Outdoor Fun in Evergreen

After fueling up take a walk around Evergreen lake, it is a nice loop with beautiful mountain views. Depending on your interests you can also rent a boat or paddleboard on the lake in summer. There are several spots to stop along the loop and many people bring their pups as well.

A great option for hiking in Evergreen is Alderfer and Three Sisters Park. These trails are great for all ages. There are rocks to climb and wildlife all around. Ponderosa pine trees surround the trails and give spectacular views. You can choose a trail that best suits your needs, or that of your littlest hiker.

Mom Tip: Baby wearing is great for these trails, bring lots of snacks and let your little one choose a spot to have a snack and look for deer and elk!

Head back into town for some delicious wood fired pizza at Campfire. With several menu options from salads to BBQ there is something for everyone. They have a large outdoor patio space with fire pits which is great on a spring or summer day. Enjoy a cold beer from one of Colorado’s many breweries or a s’mores kit for the kids!

Mom Tip: This is a great family friendly spot for those with littles. It also has awesome views!

After lunch take some time to explore downtown Evergreen’s shops and galleries. There are some really unique finds! Clothing, jewelry, home decorations and some lovely art pieces are just a few of the things to see.

If you are grabbing one more meal before heading home, try Switchback Smokehouse. It is just outside Evergreen and has some of the best BBQ. They open at 11 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. or when they sell out. Sit outside next to the small river and enjoy the delicious pulled pork and a side of mac and cheese. It’s a great place to end your day and fill some hungry bellies before driving home.

Evergreen is a really fun place to spend the day with the family, you can enjoy some incredible views, hiking and tasty treats!
