Play with Junk at Junkyard Social Club

0

Within minutes of arriving at Junkyard Social Club in Boulder, my kids were up on the stage surrounded by piles of tires, metal baking sheets, boxes and other junk performing a series of shows. For three hours, my kids ranging in age from 9 months to 11 years old, were occupied, dirty and happy.
Junkyard Social is a hangout for adults serving coffee, adult beverages and small bites while also serving as an indoor and outdoor play area for kids young and old.

The club was formed in 2020 as a community space. The owners began collecting junk from junkyards and Craigslist as well as art installations from local artists. Volunteers constructed the playground, stage and eventually an entire play space for wild children!

In addition to open play, Junkyard Social offers camps during the summer and school holidays, birthday parties, special events for kids and adults and classes. It is open six days a week for general admission and play.

Mom Tips for Junkyard Social

  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. It’s a junkyard, after all!
  • Relax and let there imaginations go wild! The rules are pretty minimal so let the kids play and enjoy some time to sip your coffee in peace.
  • Don’t miss the maze underneath the stage.
  • There is coloring and indoor play toys just inside, which is great when you need a break to calm down before heading home.
