Compassion and the Community Provide a Place of Hope and Healing at Children’s Hospital Colorado
As a parent, there is nothing more comforting when your child is sick or hurt than knowing that the best pediatric experts are right here in our neighborhood.
For more than 114 years, Children’s Hospital Colorado (Children’s Colorado) has served our
community as a beacon of hope, providing world-class medical care to every child who walks through its doors. And the care isn’t always just medical: they also support families through the stress of having a child in the hospital.
Their mission is possible thanks to the generosity of donors who believe that every child
deserves the chance for a healthy and hopeful future.
Quite simply, Children’s Colorado is fueled by giving.
From broken bones to the rarest of cancers and everything in between, Children’s Colorado
treats more children than any hospital in the region — more than a quarter of a million kids each year. And when our kids get hurt or sick, they need specialized equipment, training and expertise that recognizes the unique ways they differ from adults.
Children’s Colorado ranks among the top 10 children’s hospitals in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report. And with campuses in Aurora, Broomfield, Highlands Ranch, Colorado Springs, plus multiple partnership locations around the state, we’re so fortunate to have world class care for our kids nearby.
Healing the whole family
An unexpected diagnosis can turn a family’s world upside down. You can imagine the stress
having a hospitalized child would cause, including financial and psychological worries. Many
parents need to take time off work or travel long distances to attend to their child’s medical
needs.
Children’s Colorado is there to support families so they can focus on comforting their child.
Consider the child life specialist who teaches a patient how to swallow pills, medical dogs who calm a child before a procedure, or the clinical social worker helping a fellow mom manage needs like groceries and gas — these services are rarely covered by health insurance but are just as critical to the healing process as medical care. That’s where donors come in.
Without financial support from generous community members, this amazing resource would not be in our backyard. Colorado Gives Day is December 10, and it’s a great time to make a gift that ensures Children’s Colorado continues to be there for everyone. Through the month of December, gifts will be doubled by a generous match by The Nycum Family up to $30,000.
