Inclusive Treat Ideas for the Teal Pumpkin Project

0

The Teal Pumpkin project was started as an easy way to make trick-or-treating a more inclusive activity for kids with food allergies and other conditions. More than 1 in 13 kids deal with food allergies and many more have intolerances that make Halloween fun potentially dangerous.

You can participate by placing a teal pumpkin on your doorstep to let kids know you are offering treats other than candy or download a poster from the Food Allergy and Research Education website.

Ideas for Non-Candy Halloween Treats

  • Bouncy balls
  • Glow sticks or bracelets
  • Halloween snap bracelets
  • Mini bubble sticks
  • Stampers
  • Stickers

Many retailers have gotten on board and a quick search on Amazon or Target leads to a long list of ideas for non-food trinkets to pass out.

Don’t forget to add your house to the Teal Pumpkin Project Map, which helps families identify houses with safe treats in their area.
