Denver’s coffee culture is rich but the trick is finding a place where our kids can easily mesh into historically quiet spaces. Luckily, the Denver area has some great options for families where not only are children but welcomed, but celebrated!

Family Friendly Coffee Shops in Denver

Wash Perk

A few blocks from Washington Park, Wash Perk is a quaint shop, nestled on a residential street. It is unpretentious, vibrant, cheerful and welcomes children with their sprinkling of toys, board games and books throughout the store. Spend the morning outdoors, and then keep the fun going while mom sits down for a cup of jo and the kids entertain themselves. The food menu is limited to pastries and light fare.

Nixon’s Coffee House

The Hudson Gardens location of Nixon’s Coffee House is the perfect stop for families out and about on the Platte River Trail. Smoothies will fill their little bellies as they play and bike though the gardens. With plenty of room to roam and explore, it is a great place for mom to take a breather while kids keep busy. Note, it is only accessible by foot or bike via the gardens! Stop for breakfast, lunch or a snack in between. Anytime is a good time for coffee and treats!

Windy Saddle Cafe

Directly stating on their website, “We think kids need a place too. We have a special place and menu for them.” is what makes Windy Saddle Cafe in Golden a treasured place for families. A cool western atmosphere will grab the kids’ attention the moment they walk in the door, the great food selection will entice them to actually eat and the designated play area will have them begging to return!

Ink!

The Bonnie Brae location of the popular Ink! franchise is their most family friendly shop. The sizable indoor space and outdoor seating means you can let kids be kids without having to shush them in a more serious storefront. Leave the packed snacks at home because there’s food everyone will love. From breakfast and lunch to pastries and snacks, no one will leave hungry.

Copper Door Coffee Roasters

Support a woman-owned business, grab a great drink and enjoy the lovely Denver Botanic Gardens all at once when you visit Copper Door Coffee Roasters. Sit on the enclosed outdoor patio or wander around the greenery and take the coffee to go!

Tattered Cover

If you’re downtown or on Colfax head to Tattered Cover. After ordering a hot chocolate for the kiddos and a caffeinated beverage of your choice, head to the kids section of the iconic bookstore. Shop and read together! They also offer free storytime at all locations, a perfect way to have 20 minutes to zone out while the kids are fully immersed in an imaginative land.

The Den

Looking to host a toddler playdate but want to avoid your own home? The Den is wanting your business! A space for the entire family, it looks like a hotel lobby, but with eye-pleasing kids entertainment seamlessly woven throughout. The atmosphere is meant for adults to enjoy a hot beverage (either alone or with friends) while children play. The Den charges an entry fee in order to continually offer nice amenities with an elevated feel.

What establishments should we add to this list? Coffee loving parents need all the suggestions we can get! Happy sipping.
