There’s nothing like an ice cream cone on a hot day and Denver has no shortage of family friendly ice cream spots! Here are some of our team’s favorites.

Best Ice Cream Spots in Denver

Little Man Ice Cream Company (multiple locations)

Little Man Ice Cream Company is a Denver kid favorite for its atmosphere and homemade, fun flavors. It’s flagship store downtown sells its treats under a 28-foot tall milk can. Other locations all have unique themes.

  • Old Town Churn in Fort Collins features a 26-foot tall ice cream churn.
  • Little Man Ice Cream Central Park celebrates the area’s aviation history and sits below a giant airplane. Flavors include Turbulence and Red Eye.
  • Dang Soft Serve features a modern design with an 80’s theme. A portion of proceeds are donated to artists in the Park Hill neighborhood.
  • Sweet Cooie’s is named after the owner’s mother (Little Man was his father). Proceeds benefit women’s education in Denver and globally. Specialties include the Gooey Cooie and treats like truffles and colorful candies.

Bonnie Brae

Featuring 120 flavors, Bonnie Brae Ice Cream is a family owned shop in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood. The ice cream is made in house since 1986.

Butterfield’s Tasty Treats

The old fashioned ice cream at Butterfield’s in Parker is available in generous cones but also pints and quarts. You’ll find the classic flavors but also fun, unique ones! We recommend the Salted Caramel and Cappuccino Chocolate Chip!

Happy Cones

Happy Cones begin in a converted school bus using a first imported New Zealand made ice cream blending machine. Now Happy Cones has a shop in the Edgewater Public Market by Sloans Lake and at the Golden Mill Food Hall in Golden. New Zealand style ice cream is a mix of sweet cream ice cream with a scoop of fruit.

High Point Creamery

This upscale creamery features signature flavors like Basil with Blackberry Swirl, Easy Grey and Shortbread and Tahitian Vanilla. High Point has three locations in the Denver area but is also known for Big Pinky, its bright pink food truck spotted at events around town.

Milkbox Creamery

Shakes, ice cream sandwiches, cups, cones and boozy shakes are all part of Milkbox‘s menu along with flavors like Malted Whopper, Salted Oreo, Almond Joy, Banana Pudding, and more. The location is a historic spot at Union Station in an old barbershop space. Vegan and sorbet options available.

Snow Cafe

Snowl Cafe in Aurora is known for its Taiyaki (fish shaped) ice cream cones. The cafe also features Boba tea and Boba smoothies.

Sweet Cow Ice Cream

Sweet Cow is a small batch ice cream shop with locally sourced ingredients. They have seven locations in the Denver area.
