Georgetown Loop Railroad traveling in mountains

All aboard! Buy your ticket for the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad and be transported back to the Colorado Rockies of the 1880s.

This living museum opens every spring and runs seven days a week June – September. Buy a ticket for one of their routine train rides or choose a themed special event! Train rides start at one hour and 15 minutes.

There are two depot locations – Georgetown and Silver Plume – but the train ride experience is identical from either starting point.

Add-on Mine Tour

Dive into the Old West with mine tours and panning for gold as an add-on to your train ride. You’ll go on a walking tour of the Lebanon Silver mine, 500 feet into a min tunnel from the 1870s. Make sure to wear closed-toe shoes and bring a jacket as it is a chilly 44 degrees underground. You’ll end the tour by panning for your own gold – you can keep whatever you find! This tour adds one hour and 15 minutes to your experience. Note: Kids 4 and under are not allowed inside the mine.

Train Station Locations

Devil’s Gate
From I-70, take Exit 228 to Georgetown.
If you are on I-70 West, take a left off the ramp. If you are on I-70 East, take a right off the ramp. From here, take the first right at the roundabout. This is Argentine Street. Follow Argentine until you reach a fork in the road. Stay to the right and the road will end at the Devil’s Gate Depot.

Silver Plume
From I-70, take exit 226.
If you are on I-70 West, take a left at the stop sign and go under the interstate. If you are coming from I-70 East, take a right at the off ramp. The Silver Plume Depot will be on your left just past I-70.

Mom Tips

  • Tickets are not emailed or printed. You have to arrive at the station to pick up your tickets. They recommend arriving 20 minutes early so you make your departure time.
  • You can buy tickets at the station but they do sell out during popular seasons, so it’s better to buy ahead of time.
  • There are no bathrooms on the train but there are at both train stations.
  • The trains run regardless of weather so come prepared for rain (or snow).
